Here are some of the most common questions I get asked.
Why are all items made to order?
Because waste is ugly and I don't want to have something just lying around.
I make each corset after you order it. That means zero waste and it's made for you!
If something is available and ready to wear in my shop, it's small batch creations made with intention.
But here's the exciting bit: I'm finally starting to build up some ready-to-wear stock for fairs and live events! So if you catch me at a market, you can grab something same day.
Juggling fair stock + online orders is a lot for one girl with a sewing machine, so online is still made-to-order for now. Soon there'll be ready-to-order pieces online too.
What are your available sizes?
For made-to-order items, I offer a standard size chart shown on each product. However, I can create a piece that is tailored specifically to your body, customized for a perfect fit.
To ensure your piece fits like a dream, I will ask you to provide your measurements.
The key measurements I usually need are:
- Bust
- Underbust
- Waist (at the narrowest point)
- Hi Hip
But I'll let you know exactly what measurements I need for your custom piece, and if I need any other measurements!
How do I measure myself?
How do I order a custom corset?
Get ready to chat! The process is super collaborative and we'll talk a lot to make sure I bring your dream corset to life.
- Step 1: The Idea: Send me your inspiration, anything from pictures to a detailed description!
To make this step easier Fill out this form - Step 2: The Plan: I'll create a design or idea board and give you a price estimate based on all the lovely details.
- Step 3: Let's Do This! Once you approve the design and price, a 50% deposit secures your spot in my queue and lets me buy all your beautiful materials.
- Step 4: I Get to Work: I'll send you updates and might ask you questions. I can make some changes to the corset if needed (Small tweaks are fine, but big changes might affect the price).
- Step 5: It's Ready! I'll show you your finished corset with photos and a video. After you give it a thumbs-up, just pay the final balance and I'll ship it out to you!
Do you create other clothing besides corsets?
Absolutely!
In addition to corsets, I love creating skirts, shirts, and other custom clothing.

How much does a custom corset or apparel piece cost?
Great question! The price isn't one-size-fits-all. It really comes down to what you're dreaming up!
Want one of my existing designs in a different fabulous fabric? The price will be pretty close to what you see on the site.
Dreaming of something totally new with all the bells and whistles? That will be a different price point, as fancy fabrics and complex designs change the cost.
Most of my custom pieces fall somewhere between R600 and R5,000. The very best way to nail down a price?

How much does shipping cost?
We are happy to ship to any address within South Africa. We are based in Potchefstroom and use Courier Guy for all our deliveries.
We offer two convenient shipping options:
- PUDO Locker Pickup: R60. Have your item delivered to a secure PUDO locker near you for easy collection.
- To Door Delivery: R80. We will deliver your parcel directly to your address.
Please allow 3-5 working days for shipping after your item has been made.
Do you ship internationally?
We are currently working on implementing international shipping!
For now, I can send you a quote for shipping upon request, but it is not yet implemented in the shop checkout.
At this time, Redcap Renaissance is focused on creating and shipping custom corsets within South Africa. However, I would love to bring my wearable art to a global audience. I am actively working on figuring out all the necessary details to allow shipping to the US, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Nordic countries (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland).

What is your policy on items damaged during shipping?
While we take every precaution to pack your order securely, we are not liable for packages that are lost, stolen, or misdelivered (including errors due to an incorrect address provided by the customer).
The good news is that for your protection, shipping insurance is included on all orders shipped via PUDO.
If your package arrives damaged:
- Do not discard any packaging! This is required for the claim.
- Contact us immediately (within 48 hours of delivery) with clear photo and/or video evidence of the damaged item and all packaging materials.
- We will use this evidence to initiate a claim with our shipping insurer.
Please understand that the resolution and any reimbursement are ultimately subject to the insurer's approval process.
